Poker is a card game for two to 14 players with the object of winning the pot (the sum of all bets made in one deal). The pot may be won by having the highest ranking poker hand or by bluffing. Poker is a skill game that involves a great deal of luck, but in the long run, the best players will win. It is a good idea to learn and practice the basic rules of poker.<\/p>\n
In most games of poker, a standard 52-card deck is used with the addition of jokers. Often, the deck is shuffled between each deal to speed up play. In some situations, a player will place all of their chips into the pot, a bet known as an all-in bet.<\/p>\n
Once all players have received their 2 hole cards, a betting round starts with mandatory bets called blinds being put into the pot by the players to the left of the dealer. Players then have the option to check, call, raise or fold their hand.<\/p>\n
After the first betting interval, a third card is dealt face up called the flop. A new round of betting starts with the player to the left of the dealer and then a fourth card is dealt face up called the turn.
